Futsal, league: the final will once again be Fiorentino vs Folgore
Folgore copy-paste the first-leg scoreline and, together with Fiorentino, book their place in the 2023 Scudetto final. The second leg of the semi-finals produces plenty of goals but no surprises: through go the same two sides who had prevailed in the first matches. This time it’s Tre Fiori and Folgore who open the evening at the Multieventi. Needing to overturn a three-goal deficit – in reality, to score four more than the Giallorossoneri – Fiorentino’s side start with great determination, breaking the deadlock on 6 minutes through the ever-reliable Verri, also on target a week earlier. On that occasion Bernardi had scored as well, and he repeats the feat with a lob after Chezzi’s close-range touch had made it 1-1. At the start of the second half, Pellegrini bags a lightning brace to make it 4-1, exactly the same score as in the first leg.
Fiorentino clinch the second ticket to the final, though this time with a very different scoreline from that of 23 May. Then it was 3-1, yesterday 5-4. La Fiorita come back in the dying minutes after finding themselves 5-1 down, helped in part by a certain drop in intensity from the cup holders, by then absolutely certain of going through. When it was time to step on the gas again, however, Michelotti’s men did not need asking twice. Cevoli opens the scoring on 11 minutes with a delicate lob over the onrushing Marchetti. Zafferani doubles the lead with a simple touch on the goal line. La Fiorita react through a poacher’s effort from Giuccioli. It’s not nearly enough, though, for Ghiotti’s side, who would have needed another four goals. After the break, Maiani confirms his status as a man for the big occasion, diverting into the net the 3-1 goal cleverly laid on by Zafferani. It is effectively the final nail in the coffin of Montegiardino’s hopes. Fiorentino widen the gap further with a Busignani free-kick and a sole-flick finish from Ceccoli. They then ease off a little, and this is when La Fiorita find their goals of pride: another from Giuccioli (a close-range touch after a masterful piece of skill – sole control, nutmeg and assist – by Selva, who earns deserved applause from the crowd), one from Bernardi and one from Belloni, who scores into an empty net after Protti had gone in search of a goal in the opposition half. Minor blemishes on an otherwise hugely satisfying evening for Fiorentino, who are now chasing the double against the very same team they faced, just under a month ago, in the Titano Futsal Cup final – and beat. Tre Fiori and La Fiorita will instead contest third place.
