Futsal: Libertas beat Domagnano, Virtus cruise

In the first leg of the Preliminary Round of the play-offs, three out of four teams stayed true to their regular-season form, with the only exception being Domagnano, who lose out to Libertas and now find themselves needing a win (by any scoreline) in the return leg to avoid early elimination. In Dogana, it is a goal from Francesco Rossi that delivers the first round to Penserini’s men, who cope with Beinat’s sending-off (second yellow early in the second half) and earn the chance, in the return match, to go through with two out of three possible results. The clash between the Giallorossi and the Granata is also the only match with few goals. Virtus, also in Dogana, score for fun at the expense of an unfortunate Tre Penne, who after just 5 minutes are already 3-0 down following strikes from Aruci and Pazzaglia, split by Moretti’s own goal. The Neroverdi start filling up the scoresheet again after the break, with Sensoli netting twice in quick succession, then adding another late on, just before further goals from Aruci and Pascucci. Juvenes-Dogana also open up a gap, easing past Pennarossa 3-0. Zonzini breaks the deadlock in the final third of the first half, swiftly followed by Mularoni. And it is once again Zonzini, in added time of the second half, who makes it three and completes his personal brace. La Fiorita concede two but score four against Cosmos. The score is opened by Franciosi after 10 minutes. Righi replies shortly after the quarter-hour mark for a parity that holds until half-time. Straight after the restart, Giuccioli puts La Fiorita back in front, and they increase their lead through Franciosi immediately before Guerra scores Cosmos’ second of the night. An equally rapid response from Gianni Galli’s side follows: Selva seals the 4-2. The second legs will be played on Thursday, with venues reversed. Only a win can extend the season for Pennarossa, Cosmos, Domagnano and Tre Penne. As mentioned, any kind of win is enough for the Wolves; Pennarossa, Cosmos and Tre Penne, on the other hand, must win by a greater margin than last night’s defeat. Here is the updated schedule for the Preliminary Round after the first-leg fixtures:
