Futsal, authoritative Murata: La Fiorita beaten 3-0 with two own goals
The big match of the sixth matchday of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal was also the one that closed the round. Last night at the Multieventi, La Fiorita and Murata faced each other. The Bianconeri took the lead after just five minutes, forcing a clumsy own goal by Giuccioli to break the deadlock. The game was fairly even, at least in terms of attacking volume. The quality of chances, however, told a different story: Murata hit the post with a rocket from Belloni, while La Fiorita went close to the top corner through a free-kick by Matteo Chezzi. Right at the end of the half, a swift counter-attack released a thunderbolt from Pellegrini that flew just centimetres wide of Protti’s upright.
After the restart, La Fiorita produced the first real surge but were unable to find the equaliser. In contrast, Murata – as in the first half – were clinical. Once again, friendly fire betrayed Andreani: on Mattioli’s strike, Matteo Chezzi deflected a left-footed effort, destined for the back of the net, with his knee, only to gift the City club a 2-0 lead instead. Traviglia’s men then put their foot on the gas in an effort to get back into the game as quickly as possible, exposing themselves to the counter-attacks of a Murata side who almost benefitted from a third own goal. The post spared Giuccioli from a Riccardo Ferri-style incident. Belloni fared no better, missing a one-on-one with Andreani. The most glaring error came from Moretti, who, after receiving the ball from Belloni with the goal gaping, hit one post and then the other. Midway through the second half came La Fiorita’s best spell, but the Gialloblù lacked a cutting edge. First, a transition led by Simone Chezzi – excellent on the ball – ended with a sliced left-footed effort in front of Protti. In the 57th minute, Matteo Chezzi then struck a powerful free-kick from the edge of the area which Busignani – positioned on the goal line alongside his three outfield team-mates – deflected behind with his shoulder. Montegiardino’s side had in fact survived being a man down following the sending-off of Pellegrini, who received a second yellow card for a challenge from behind on Busignani. It was the San Marino universal himself who finally put the game to bed, intercepting Andreani’s attempted vertical pass – with the goalkeeper having vacated his area to play in the opposition half – and finding the empty net from the halfway line. The 3-0 scoreline allows Murata to reclaim second place, level on points with Domagnano and behind leaders Virtus. Next matchday will feature a double head-to-head at the top involving the league’s top four sides.
