Futsal: Murata draw level in third, headline fixtures postponed
The heavy hailstorm that hit the upper part of San Marino last night left no chance for the two matches scheduled in Fiorentino. The day’s headline fixtures were therefore postponed due to an unplayable pitch, which had become dangerously slippery because of the substantial layer of ice on the surface. The games that should have involved the top four sides in the table have thus been called off, allowing Murata to move provisionally level in third place on 54 points, alongside Tre Fiori. The Bianconeri broke Cosmos’ stubborn resistance in the final eight minutes: before that, Muccioli’s team had traded blow for blow with their opponents, even going 3-2 up after Dominici’s strike. Previously, efforts from Moretti and Ghiotti had been cancelled out by goals from Zanotti and Zafferani. The goal that made it all square again, this time for Murata, came from Rizzo. In the closing stages, the City club showed they had more left in the tank, with a brace from Mattioli and another goal from a recent futsal international, Matteo Moretti.
The defeat is painless for Cosmos in terms of league position. Pennarossa, in fact, were unable to add to their tally in the indoor match against Libertas. The Granata had to come from behind twice, relying on Francesco Rossi and Cola to peg back their opponents, who had gone ahead on both occasions through Maiani. Right at the finish came the sting in the tail for the Biancorossi, punished by Cola’s second goal of the evening, scored exactly on 60 minutes. Pennarossa’s buffer in the race for post-season qualification remains five points. Cailungo also went down to a predictable defeat against Domagnano. The Wolves struck five times, changing ends at 2-0 thanks to a brace from Lorenzo Bollini. After the restart Villa made it three for the Giallorossi, before Capone’s own goal got Cailungo on the scoresheet. Vagnini and Santarini stretched the lead towards the final 5-2, within which Sabatino also found the net for the Rossoverdi.
The gap between eighth and tenth place remains unchanged, as Tre Penne also took maximum points against Faetano. It was a goal-filled evening for the Biancazzurri, inspired by Jacopo Gamba – scorer of a hat-trick. The San Marino wide player also appeared on the scoresheet at the wrong end with an own goal at the start of the second half. For Tre Penne there were also goals from Dominella, Francesconi, Fortunato and Ercolani which – together with Fantini’s own goal that broke the deadlock on 15 minutes – carried Ghiotti’s men to an 8-1 final scoreline.
Further up the table, Juvenes-Dogana claimed a valuable victory over Virtus that puts Levani’s side in a strong position to secure sixth place. The Biancorossazzurri, three points off fourth albeit having played one game more than La Fiorita, are not setting any limits for themselves at the end of a regular season that has seen them grow into form. The match played yesterday in Dogana was a balanced affair, with Juvenes-Dogana pulling away through Borasco and Chezzi, only to be pegged back twice by Toccaceli and Morganti. In the second half, also helped by Lonfernini’s sending-off, the Serravalle club powered to a 5-2 win thanks to a brace from Zonzini, either side of a goal by Gianni. The latter thus made amends for his missed penalty in the incident that led to the red card for the Virtus goalkeeper.
