Futsal: One-sided late fixture, Tre Penne win 6-0
Last night the postponed match from the eighth round of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal was played, the only fixture of this matchday held indoor, and the side to come out on top was Tre Penne with a resounding 6-0 victory over Pennarossa, with three goals scored in each half.
The match was effectively put to bed in the first half by the Biancazzurri: Gamba broke the deadlock on 4 minutes, then Benedettini took centre stage with a brace, scoring in the 18th and 28th minutes. Despite their three-goal lead, Ghiotti’s men had no intention of easing off and, just two minutes into the second half, they made it 4-0 thanks to Benedettini’s hat-trick. Later it was Contato, on 48 minutes, and then Rossini, on 59 minutes, who further added gloss to the scoreline.
With this win, never really in doubt, Tre Penne move up to 12 points in the table, overtaking the Biancorossi themselves and Juvenes-Dogana, even though they have played one game more than those two sides. The team from the Castello di Città are enjoying an excellent spell, having picked up four wins and a narrow defeat against league leaders La Fiorita.
It is a tough defeat to swallow for Casadei’s players, not only because of the six goals conceded and none scored, but also because this loss sees them drop down to tenth place on 9 points. The team from the Castello di Chiesanuova, in this first part of the season, have shown that if they want to aim for something significant, they must work on achieving consistency in their performances.
This evening all the first-leg ties of the quarter-finals of the Titano Futsal Cup will be played, with Fiorentino entering the fray to defend their title after the bye they received in the round of 16 as holders of the trophy.
