Futsal: opportunity not to be missed for La Fiorita, with Folgore waiting after the break

After the winter break, the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal is also ready to restart, resuming with a three-way battle for top spot – a crucial position to take into the playoffs, at the end of which the title will be awarded. League leaders Murata will sit this round out, a situation that could allow La Fiorita and Pennarossa – but also Virtus or Domagnano – to close the gap at the top. The Gialloblù from Montegiardino are involved in the late fixture on Wednesday at the Multieventi (21:45), when they will face Folgore. With double the points in the table, La Fiorita start as favourites and will be further driven to chase victory by the chance to move within one point of Murata. With similar motivation, Pennarossa are tasked with facing Cosmos. The Gialloverdi are a tricky side, having collected sixteen points so far and only losing 2-0 against Murata. Unbeaten in three, Muccioli’s men want to test themselves against one of the teams built to challenge for the title. A recent objective also for Fiorentino, who against bottom-of-the-table San Giovanni will be chasing a sixth win in thirteen league outings. The reigning champions sit in mid-table, five points adrift of Tre Penne. The club from Città are currently sixth and set to take on Tre Fiori. That match will open tomorrow’s programme in Dogana, where – but not before 21:45 – Faetano and Libertas will also meet. Lying in thirteenth and fourteenth place respectively, they have no alternative to victory if they are to edge closer to the playoff zone. Right on the fringe of that area today are Cailungo. Venerucci’s Rossoverdi must take on Juvenes-Dogana, the team sitting just above them in the standings. In this sense, it is an excellent test for Cailungo: winning would mean making a real statement in the race for the postseason. On the other hand, Levani’s side will be aiming for a result that would have the flavour of their minimum target being almost achieved. The match will be played tomorrow at the Multieventi, with kick-off scheduled for 21:45. Virtus and Domagnano will face each other in the only match scheduled for 21:15 tomorrow. A top-billing clash between the current fourth and fifth-placed sides, it will be a litmus test for the ambitions of Michelotti and Gasperoni’s teams. The two former San Marino internationals will meet as opponents in Domagnano, in a fixture that could carry significant weight in defining the top four positions. This objective is anything but secondary, as it guarantees direct access to the playoff quarter-finals, avoiding the Preliminary Round.
