Futsal: Pennarossa breaks the 70-point barrier by beating Cosmos in a thrilling clash

It was nothing short of a lively match that last night completed the 29th matchday of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, pitting Pennarossa against Cosmos. Two in-form sides produced a contest with an outcome in the balance right to the end, embellished by ten goals in total and finished 6-4 in favour of the Biancorossi.

Barely underway and Stefanelli had already given the Chiesanuova side the lead, meeting Gasperoni’s assist and beating the opposing goalkeeper with a decisive side-foot finish. The yellow-green reply arrived in less than 200 seconds and sparked the celebrations of Molinas, who robs Gasperoni high up the court and punishes Bizzocchi at the second attempt. Pennarossa went back in front through Ceccoli on 14 minutes, capitalising on a loose ball from Cerquetti as he tried to play out, but again Cosmos hit straight back. Once more it was Molinas, cutting in from the right before unleashing a powerful and precise left-footed strike.

After the break there was more tit for tat, straight after Ceccoli had rattled the post. Gasperoni scored from a free-kick, taking advantage of a poorly arranged Cosmos wall, while Molinas – after fine work down the flank by Bacciocchi – completed his hat-trick to make it 3-3. Not even the two-goal cushion that Pennarossa then established was enough to quell the yellow-green attacks. The quick-fire goals from Toccaceli and Gasperoni seemed to be paving the way for a serene finale, but that was not how it turned out. Toccaceli’s goal was a beauty, finding the top corner with his left after a perfect first touch and turn, while Gasperoni once again broke through down Cerquetti’s side, beating Brighi to the ball with a toe-poke. Cerquetti himself partially made amends, rekindling Cosmos hopes with a solo move rounded off by a thunderous strike into the top corner from mid-range. The Serravalle club even had the chance to level at 5-5, but Bizzocchi was monumental with a spread-eagle reflex save that denied Giglietti a celebration he had almost started. So, before the final whistle, it was once again Gasperoni who put the seal on Pennarossa’s victory, intercepting beyond halfway and charging forward before burying a left-footed shot from a tight angle – a finish that also secured his personal hat-trick.
