Futsal: perfect parity between Cosmos and Tre Penne

Billed on the eve as the most finely balanced clash of Matchday 16 in the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, Cosmos v Tre Penne duly ended in a draw. A statistically unusual outcome for the discipline, to the extent that for the side from Città this is their first draw of the league campaign – after a first half of the season made up of nine wins and five defeats. Penserini’s men were quicker out of the blocks, finding the opening goal on 8 minutes through Nicholas Cola. Cosmos, however, again showed themselves to be extremely solid and always in the game, clawing their way back before landing the 1-1 equaliser courtesy of Lorenzo Bacciocchi. Both would be on target again after the break, with Tre Penne needing only a handful of seconds to restore their lead. But the final result was ultimately decided by a late twist from Cosmos, who in the first minute of added time brought the contest back level, narrowly avoiding a ninth defeat of the season. Muccioli’s side draw level, for the moment, with Folgore in eighth place, while Tre Penne see their advantage over Domagnano wiped out – sharing fifth place with the Wolves on 28 points from 15 matches. The programme for the opening round of the second half of the season will be completed this evening at the Multieventi, when – from 21:45 – Cailungo and Folgore will contest the final fixture of the round. Should they win, the San Marino runners-up would move clear in seventh place, shaking off Cosmos and overtaking Fiorentino. A draw would not be enough for Zonzini’s men to move above the reigning champions, while Cailungo – also in light of Monday’s 2-2 draw between Faetano and Tre Fiori – currently find themselves virtually outside the play-off spots. To get back into them, Venerucci’s side will have to do better than Faetano, who today sit one point above them in the standings.
