Futsal: San Giovanni, last chance for the Preliminary Round

The 26th matchday of the futsal championship gets under way with a series of key fixtures in the race for the play-offs and play-outs. The teams will take to the court determined to pick up vital points, either to consolidate their position in the table or to attempt a late surge.

The new week opens with Cailungo taking on La Fiorita at 20:15 in Fiorentino. The Rossoverdi, who currently occupy the last available play-out spot, will have to try to snatch points from the Gialloblu to strengthen their claim to a post-season berth. On the other side, Traviglia’s men need all three points to secure their place in the play-offs.

Also at 20:15, but in Dogana, Domagnano and Juvenes-Dogana go head-to-head. The Giallorossi, fresh from a win after two consecutive defeats, will be looking for continuity to keep climbing the table. The Biancorossoblu, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back from a poor spell in which they have collected just one victory in their last five outings.

At Domagnano, at 21:15, San Giovanni and Faetano will take to the court. The two sides are separated by a single point and this match is crucial for both. The Rossoneri have one last chance to reignite their push for the play-outs, while the Gialloblu need a win to keep Franchino’s team behind them and move ever closer to twelfth place.

The evening continues with two fixtures scheduled for 21:45. In Dogana, Cosmos face Tre Fiori. The Gialloverdi, coming off a defeat against Murata, will look to get back to winning ways against opponents whose form has been inconsistent. Pollini’s side, for their part, will try to climb the standings and attempt to overtake Juvenes-Dogana.

Also at 21:45, in Fiorentino, Tre Penne meet Libertas. The Biancoazzurri will have the opportunity to move above Virtus, who are idle this round, and claim the last spot that grants direct access to the quarter-finals. Bottom side Libertas will try to put an end to their negative run and earn themselves some satisfaction before the end of the regular season.

The round continues on Wednesday at 21:45 with the match between Fiorentino and Pennarossa at the Multieventi in Serravalle. The Rossoblu will want to extend their positive streak despite last round’s draw, while the Biancorossi, currently second in the table, will target three points to cement their now almost certain play-off qualification.

The final game of the matchday pits Folgore against Murata, at 21:45 in the Acquaviva sports hall. The Giallorossoneri need to pick up points to keep their pursuers at bay with a view to the Preliminary Round, while the Bianconeri, already assured of a place in the quarter-finals, are aiming to preserve their unbeaten record and hold on to top spot in the standings.
