Futsal, top-of-the-table clashes on matchday eight
Matchday eight of the San Marino futsal championship kicks off tomorrow, featuring some highly intriguing clashes at the top. Standing out above all is Domagnano v Fiorentino, scheduled at Fiorentino at 20:15. On one side, Manuel Mussoni’s Giallorossi sit third and are in excellent form thanks to four consecutive wins, while on the other, Matteo Michelotti’s Rossoblù are top – level with Folgore – with an impressive seven wins from seven. Just two points separate the two teams and – a small curiosity – both sides boast the best defence in the league, with only five goals conceded.
A must-watch derby is the one between Folgore and Juvenes-Dogana, taking place tomorrow at 21:45 in Dogana. As mentioned, Max Spada’s team are top of the table thanks to seven wins in a row, but they will be up against Claudio Zonzini’s side, who will not be in a giving mood. The Dogana outfit have so far recorded four wins and two defeats, without a single draw, and in the last round they returned to winning ways by putting six past Murata.
Looking to get back to winning ways and stay close to the leaders are Virtus, currently on 14 points, just four off the summit. The Neroverdi will face Faetano, who come into this fixture on the back of four consecutive defeats.
La Fiorita are also aiming to bounce back after a narrow defeat in the last round’s big match against Fiorentino. The Montegiardino side, coached by Davide Ghiotti, will take on Cailungo, bottom of the group with seven straight losses and no points. It is something of a last call for Murata to try to stay attached to the pack in the upper half of the table: at the moment the Bianconeri have collected seven points but must face Libertas, who are coming off a spectacular 3-3 draw with Pennarossa last time out. Also in action are the Chiesanuova side, who face San Giovanni: both teams are level on 4 points (along with Libertas) and are looking for points to climb back up.
Also intriguing is Tuesday’s late fixture between Tre Penne and Cosmos, two in-form sides both seeking more points to continue their rise up the table: the Città team come into it with two wins in a row, while the Serravalle outfit have picked up 4 points from their last two games, also celebrating their first win of the season in the previous round. Tre Fiori sit out this eighth matchday.
