Futsal: tests for the leaders, crucial clashes at the bottom
Folgore and Fiorentino continue to set the pace together at the top as they wait for their head-to-head in mid-April, but in the 25th matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, which kicks off on Monday evening, both will face potential banana skins that cannot be underestimated. Michelotti’s side will be in action in Dogana against Virtus (8:15 p.m.): the Neroverdi are coming off a draw snatched in the final minutes against Domagnano and are currently fifth. Just one point above the Acquaviva side sit La Fiorita, who will be Folgore’s opponents. Max Spada’s team will play in Fiorentino (at the same time as their Rossoblù rivals) against Davide Ghiotti’s Gialloblu, who rested last round but have three wins from their last five outings.
Between these contenders are Tre Fiori, firmly in third place on 51 points (+6 on La Fiorita). Alex Bugli’s Gialloblu will instead take the floor in Tuesday’s late game at the Multieventi (9:30 p.m.) against Libertas. The Granata need to bounce back from last round’s defeat to Juvenes-Dogana (they were two goals up before losing 3-2) and must also watch their backs from the chasing pack in the race for the play-offs. Juvenes-Dogana themselves, together with Pennarossa, are already sure of a place in the post-season and will face each other in Fiorentino on Monday evening (9:45 p.m.). Both Zonzini’s side and Casadei’s come into this on the back of wins (two in a row for the Biancorossi) and sit in comfortable positions in the table, seventh and eighth respectively.
A very significant play-off clash is the one between Murata and Tre Penne (Acquaviva, 9:45 p.m.). The Bianconeri are currently in eleventh place, which secures a post-season berth, but they are coming off two consecutive defeats; things are no brighter for the team from Città, who have not taken points or wins since as far back as 6 December (a 10-0 success, precisely against Murata). A victory would allow Tre Penne to draw level in twelfth place – the last play-off spot – currently occupied by San Giovanni, who on Monday evening will face Faetano (Dogana, 9:45 p.m.). This is also a direct clash, with the Gialloblu practically on their last chance to try to extend their season. While the Rossoneri have gone two games without a win, the situation is even more critical for Faetano, who have not picked up any points since 13 February and have not won since 28 November. After last round’s win, Cailungo also want to try to force their way into the play-off race, despite sitting bottom of the group and six points off twelfth place. The opponents for Bollini’s Rossoverdi will be Cosmos, currently safe in ninth place, almost certain of a post-season spot, and coming off a defeat to Tre Fiori which halted their excellent run. That match is scheduled for Monday in Acquaviva at 9:45 p.m.
