Futsal, third matchday spread out: double derby tomorrow
The third matchday of the San Marino Futsal Championship will be spread across three separate evenings, each featuring an indoor fixture. The first in chronological order is one of the five matches scheduled for Monday. Fresh from their resounding Givova Super Cup final win, Murata return to the Multieventi court to face a Tre Fiori side coming off three defeats from as many outings this season. The Bianconeri, by contrast, have only known victory so far: it is therefore shaping up as a top-versus-bottom clash between the sides coached by Spada and Galli, kicking off at 22:00. The same applies to La Fiorita v Faetano, the first of the two games in Domagnano. Pietrangeli’s men have won every match and sit at the top of the single-group standings, albeit with several co-leaders. Matteo Selva’s Faetano, on the other hand, are still on zero points and will be looking in this “Marano derby” for the spark to turn their season around. After the two yellow-and-blue teams, it will be the turn of Domagnano and Cailungo to take to the Domagnano court. The Wolves are also among the sides with a 100% record, even though they have played only one league game so far – the opener – followed by a rest round and then a cup victory. As a result, they are currently just three points clear of Cailungo, who come into this on the back of three defeats in three games (cup included) and therefore badly need to change gear, in a fixture which was very evenly balanced both home and away last season.
The Futsal Cup allowed Pennarossa to bounce straight back after their defeat to La Fiorita on league matchday two. The Biancorossi from Chiesanuova will be looking for further confirmation in the first fixture in Dogana, where they face a Libertas side still without a league point but, like them, boosted by their first-leg victory in the Titano Futsal Cup Round of 16. Then, on the same court, derby time will arrive: Juvenes-Dogana v Folgore, with the former still on zero points in the league and the latter having reacted with a win over San Giovanni after their opening defeat, and therefore currently three points ahead of their “cousins”.
Only one match is scheduled for Tuesday and one for Wednesday, and in both cases it will be an indoor fixture. The Acquaviva Gym will host the clash between Virtus and Cosmos, the only game of the entire round between sides who have so far only won in the league, although Virtus are ahead of the Gialloverdi having played one match more. Kick-off is set for 22:00, the same time scheduled the following evening for Tre Penne v Fiorentino, to be played at the Multieventi. The side from Città, who have started the league very strongly (two wins from two), need to erase the heavy and in some ways surprising 4-0 cup defeat; as for Fiorentino, there is only one objective: to pick up their first positive result of a season that has so far brought three defeats from three. San Giovanni have a rest round.
