Futsal: Tre Fiori hit seventh heaven as Folgore lose for the first time in almost a year

With numbers severely reduced due to numerous injuries, Folgore suffer their first defeat of the season. The side to inflict it on Spada’s men is a Tre Fiori flying high in third place. The yellow-and-blues string together their seventh consecutive victory: Cecchini breaks the deadlock inside 2 minutes; then, midway through the second half, Cappelli doubles the lead, before Folgore pull one back through Ercolani but cannot avoid a defeat which, excluding the Champions League, Folgore had not experienced since last 28 April, in other words the second derby of the 2021-22 season against Juvenes-Dogana. This slip, combined with last round’s draw against La Fiorita, costs the reigning champions a dangerous gap opening up from the top. Indeed, Fiorentino make no mistake in their meeting with Murata, who are also down to the bare bones. The scoreline is monstrous and features Busignani as leading scorer (8 goals), followed by Gasperoni (5 goals), Ceccoli (hat-trick), Giacobbi (brace) and Zafferani. A Guidi own goal completes a disastrous night for the Bianconeri. While Fiorentino pull away (+5), Virtus also get back to winning ways after a two-game drought, though for the moment they remain behind La Fiorita, who likewise won on Monday’s programme for Matchday 26. The Neroverdi put eight past Tre Penne, drawing on the particularly inspired form of Sensoli (hat-trick), and also goals from Paolo Casadei (brace), Pazzaglia, Morganti and De Biagi. At 3-0 down, Tre Penne had tried to get back into it through strikes from Contato and Fantini; then, after Pollini’s side pull away again, the Biancoazzurri are left with only the partial consolation of Moretti’s goal, not enough to lift them from third-bottom despite San Giovanni’s defeat. The latter are forced to pick the ball out of their net six times. That is how many goals La Fiorita score, led by Fabio Belloni (hat-trick) while also getting on the scoresheet through Bernardi (brace) and Esposito. For San Giovanni, another piece of bad news on the night is Casali’s red card for dissent. After two consecutive defeats, Libertas and Cosmos get back on track. The two sides record important wins against Cailungo and Pennarossa respectively. The 5-0 derby victory helps the Granata side open up a significant gap (+9) over the relegation battle line. Cailungo remain below that line; after two straight wins they are brought to a sudden halt "because of" Taddei, Francesco Rossi, Bacciocchi, Burioni and Mazza, the scorers on the night. Cosmos, meanwhile, close in on their opponents of the day, namely Pennarossa, who had been eyeing up Juvenes-Dogana’s position but instead find themselves having to digest a defeat after two wins and a draw, seeing their safety cushion in mid-table begin to shrink. Inside 10 minutes Cosmos are already 2-0 up, thanks to goals from Zafferani and Righi. D’Alessandro pulls one back shortly after the quarter-hour, making it 2-1, a scoreline that remains until the 10th minute of the second half, when Cervellini restores a two-goal cushion for Cosmos. Righi again helps to further seal the Gialloverdi victory, dented but never really threatened by D’Alessandro’s late strike. This evening, to close out the round, Domagnano face Juvenes-Dogana.
