Futsal: Tre Fiori into the quarters, Libertas overtake Tre Penne at the finish

Everything is settled as far as the futsal Campionato Sammarinese regular season is concerned. Tre Fiori finish in fourth place and secure direct access to the quarter-finals, leaving Juvenes-Dogana and La Fiorita to go through the intermediate step of the Preliminary Round. Bugli’s boys sweep aside Faetano with an 8-2 scoreline: in the first half they go ahead through Verri, benefit from a Beinat own goal and add a strike from Toccaceli (in a power-play situation after Zafferani’s sending-off), with Bartolini’s temporary 2-1 in between. After the break both Verri and Toccaceli double their personal tallies, while Simoncini scores twice and – together with Filippo Burioni’s goal – takes Fiorentino’s club total to eight. Guidi reduces the deficit for Faetano on 53 minutes, while Muscioni – for Tre Fiori – is sent off on 58 minutes with the result already in the bag. He will miss the first leg of the quarter-finals, as will Samuel Toccaceli, booked while on a caution. Juvenes-Dogana rack up a ninth consecutive victory, putting two goals past Domagnano in each half. Braces from Alessandro Zonzini and Baldelli floor the Wolves, who fail to find the net. Their next opponents in the Preliminary Round will be Libertas. The Granata are going through a good spell of form, so much so that they held La Fiorita to a draw: Davide Rossi and Cola – the latter scoring at the death – cancel out captain Bernardi’s brace in the final 2-2. It is a precious point for the club from Borgo Maggiore, who move ahead of Tre Penne. Murata dominate the derby of the Castello di Città, winning convincingly 6-1: in addition to Mattioli’s brace, there are goals from El Attar, Ghiotti, Belloni and Rossi. Ercolani scores Tre Penne’s consolation goal two minutes from the end of normal time. Big wins as well for Fiorentino, Folgore and Virtus. The league leaders close the regular season on 77 points from 28 matches, finishing off Pennarossa 9-2. Busignani hits a hat-trick and Casadei nets twice, adding to goals by Bacciocchi, Stacchini, Serra and Gasperoni. Rosa and Ciacci are on target for Pennarossa. The reigning champions will be back on court on Thursday evening for the Titano Futsal Cup final, where they will face Folgore (Multieventi, 21:15). Zonzini’s side were no less impressive, beating Cailungo 10-1: the goals are evenly split between the two halves, with multiple strikes from Tassitano (hat-trick) and Pasqualini (brace). Also on the scoresheet are Pellegrini, Chezzi, Ercolani, Bernardi and Geri, as well as Thomas Vitillo – scorer of Cailungo’s consolation goal on 44 minutes. A record-breaking evening for Virtus, who put twelve past San Giovanni, with nine different players getting on the scoresheet. The Neroverdi score six in each half: in the first period there are own goals from Zafferani and Giacobbi, as well as a brace from Pazzaglia and strikes by Tamagnini and Toccaceli. Also to be noted are the dismissals of Ugolini and Zonzini for San Giovanni, which forced coach Corbelli to keep the same quintet on court for 48 minutes. In the second half, there is personal joy for Sensoli, Selva, Pascucci, Carlini, Aruci and Lonfernini. On the strength of last night’s results, the pairings for the Preliminary Round of the play-offs have now been decided. The four teams emerging from the two-legged ties will join Fiorentino, Folgore, Murata and Tre Fiori in the quarter-final bracket. It is worth remembering that if the aggregate score is perfectly level at the end of the second leg, the higher-ranked team will advance.
