Futsal: Virtus make it six wins in a row
Prediction fulfilled in the first late fixture of matchday six of the Campionato Sammarinese futsal season, which saw Virtus continue their perfect run and reclaim top spot in the table on eighteen points. Tonight at the Multieventi it will be Murata’s turn, as they take on La Fiorita with the chance to draw level with Domagnano in second place. Montegiardino’s Gialloblù, on the other hand, would leapfrog their upcoming opponents and also Pennarossa with a win, moving into third place on their own.
Yesterday, at the Acquaviva sports hall, Michelotti’s Virtus recorded their sixth victory from as many league outings, banking all three points thanks to a flawless second half. In the first period the Neroverdi had already laid the foundations for the win, striking at the beginning and end of the half through Bernardi, Stolfi and Di Maio. Midway through the second half, a burst of pride from San Giovanni helped to virtually reopen the contest, as suggested by Alberto Volpinari’s quick-fire brace – scored within 120 seconds. Virtus, however, had already made the score safe through Morganti, before pulling further clear in the closing stages with the trademark finishes from the ever-reliable Stolfi and Di Maio (a brace each). With the final kick, Volpinari handled the ball on the goal line: the pivot received a straight red card, while Stacchini converted the spot-kick to seal a 7-1 victory for the league leaders.
