Futsal: Virtus sidelined, La Fiorita eye top spot

The only one of the four leading sides to have already observed their rest round, La Fiorita are looking to capitalise on Virtus’ enforced break on matchday eleven to move ahead of the Neroverdi. A very winnable fixture awaits the Montegiardino club, who tomorrow will face Cailungo (Fiorentino, 20:15). Also at the "Federico Crescentini" complex, but at 21:15, Levani’s Juvenes-Dogana will take on Domagnano. Gasperoni’s team returned to winning ways after defeats to Murata and Pennarossa and aim to confirm themselves as the main alternative to the powerhouses. To do so, they will need to overcome the Serravalle side, who have been clearly on the rise in recent weeks. The only match scheduled in Domagnano will see Tre Fiori and Cosmos face off. Level on nine points and jointly occupying tenth place, both are looking to give their season a new direction. Pollini’s side have won two of their last three outings, while Cosmos – after stringing together three victories – have suffered back-to-back defeats. In Dogana there is a relegation six-pointer between Faetano and San Giovanni: both are chasing their first win of the season and are already a long way adrift of twelfth place, the last position that grants access to the play-offs. A draw risks jeopardising both sides’ plans. The following match on the same court will pit Murata against Folgore. The Bianconeri want to stay top of the table and keep their lead over their closest rivals intact. With the best attack and best defence in the league, Spada’s team – with their coach facing his former club – are determined not to halt their winning streak. Runners-up Folgore, meanwhile, are looking for a big performance coupled with crucial points. At the same time, at 21:45, Pennarossa will also be in action. The Biancorossi, currently Murata’s closest pursuers, will face Fiorentino at the Multieventi. The first of the two weekly indoor fixtures will test the ambitions of the Chiesanuova club against the reigning champions. Thanks to a radical summer transfer window, Pennarossa head in as favourites on paper: for Fiorentino, it is a chance to prove they are worthy of a far higher league position than the one they currently occupy. Rounding off matchday eleven is the late fixture between Libertas and Tre Penne. The clubs from Borgo Maggiore and Città will be on court on Wednesday, again at the Multieventi and again at 21:45. The Granata are chasing their first points of the year after nine defeats in as many official outings. Tre Penne, on the other hand, want to get back to flirting with victory after two expected slips against Virtus and Pennarossa, and to consolidate their place just behind the top four. Here is the schedule for matchday 11 of the league, which will be completed tomorrow evening with the late game at the Multieventi between Domagnano and Libertas: Click here for the updated table
