Futsal Week, Under-19 finish with defeat but celebrate Mularoni
The San Marino Under-19 Futsal National Team wrapped up their Futsal Week Winter Cup campaign in Poreč (Croatia) yesterday morning with their third and final match. After the opening two defeats against Belgium and Estonia, Matteo Selva’s Titani faced Latvia: in the end it was the Baltic side celebrating, thanks to an 8-1 scoreline, with San Marino’s consolation goal scored by Nicolò Mularoni.
Latvia started at full throttle, scoring twice early on through a Fogels brace. The Baltic team went into the break five goals up after further strikes from Pilipčuks (two goals) and Lazarenko. After the restart, Arturs Šketovs’ side added two more thanks again to Lazarenko and Borisencks, stretching the lead to seven. San Marino, however, managed to find the joy of a goal: Bacciocchi won back a good ball, burst towards goal and shot; the opposing goalkeeper parried, but on the rebound Nicolò Mularoni kept his cool and beat him to make it 7-1. In the closing stages Latvia netted an eighth through Timšans for the final 8-1.
Hungary were the ones celebrating overall in Croatia, having beaten Belgium in the final.
