Great success for the first UEFA Share hosted in San Marino
Flexible Formats & Player Pathway: this was the topic at the heart of the four-day event that UEFA decided to stage in San Marino from 17 to 20 March. The San Marino Stadium, set up ad hoc for this UEFA Share, served as the headquarters for the activities that representatives of European football’s governing body conducted non-stop, both on the pitch and in the classroom. Numerous themes were explored, from grassroots football in youth categories to adult recreational and amateur activities, including walking football, Playmakers, football and disability, and much more.
Particular attention was paid to the creation of an effective learning environment and to the conditions that best encourage players, boys and girls alike, to fully express their potential. There was also a visit to the Serravalle Football Academy hub and a Grassroots festival at the Casa del Calcio, involving all girls and boys born in 2012 from San Marino clubs, together with their coaches, for an afternoon of play and fun.
The Share initiative was also an opportunity to present the reform work on grassroots game formats, developed in recent years by the FSGC Grassroots Department and the staff of the CEF 2024 Project. In his role as Grassroots Manager, Carlo Chiarabini outlined the content and rationale behind the changes introduced, with particular emphasis on the latest research comparing the various game formats across different age groups. The work was warmly praised by UEFA and the guest associations, who were also given a copy of the publication in English.
The delegation from the Titan was made up of Carlo Chiarabini, Fabio Lepri, Luigi Bizzotto, Andrea Zoppis, Matteo Semprini and Mattia Rizzo. Participants, who came from Israel, Moldova, Montenegro, Armenia, Gibraltar, Andorra, Malta, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Kosovo, Cyprus and Estonia, stayed in the historic city centre and were able to admire and appreciate the beauty of the Republic during the few free moments in otherwise busy working days.
The flawless organisation was highlighted by the praise that UEFA extended to FSGC General Secretary Luigi Zafferani during the official dinner on Tuesday evening, following a visit to the Palazzo Pubblico and the streets of the city centre. A highly positive debut, therefore, for the FSGC, which proved fully prepared and showcased strong technical and organisational capabilities. Another step forward in the development of the football movement.
