Grassroots Day: the return of the grassroots football festival proves a great success

The Montecchio Stadium provided the backdrop for a new edition of Grassroots Day, the festival of football by everyone and for everyone, which had been painfully missing in recent years due to the pandemic, but which made its comeback this morning in all its lively joy. Ninety minutes of games, activities and of course plenty of football for the girls and boys who – under the supervision and coordination of the coaches involved in the CEF project and those from the grassroots football hubs – challenged each other on the green pitch of Fonte dell'Ovo and under a sky which, thanks to the kindness of the weather, only turned dark and rainy in the afternoon, thus sparing the revival of one of the most colourful and cheerful, yet also most meaningful, events of the entire football season on the Titan. It is an integral part of the UEFA Grassroots Week, which ideally brings together football at all latitudes across Europe under the banner of full and selfless inclusion in the practice of the world’s most beautiful game. "Grassroots Day is a key date for our Federation because it reminds us that football belongs to everyone and that it should always be experienced and played in the spirit of values such as friendship, fairness and fair play." stresses the Head of the Youth Sector of the FSGC, Jessica Guidi – "We realise how important this kind of initiative is when we see the smiles on the faces of so many girls and boys playing and enjoying themselves together on the pitch. Our hope, of course, is that these feelings are not confined to a single day, but that they can be repeated every day on our pitches."
