Impressive display from Juvenes-Dogana as they halt Folgore
The opening match played in Fiorentino, between the home side from the Castello and Cosmos, went exactly to form with a comprehensive 6-1 win for the Rossoblù, despite being without their star man Busignani due to suspension. Although Bacciocchi scored for Cosmos in the 12th minute, a minute later Fiorentino were already 3-1 up and they added a further two goals before half-time. Luca Zafferani took centre stage with a brace. With this 6-1 victory (completed by a Stacchini goal), Michelotti’s team remain top with a perfect record. On the other hand, Cosmos, with a fifth defeat in six games, slip down to third from bottom, level on points with Cailungo.
Later on the same pitch, the other team from the Castello of Fiorentino, Tre Fiori, took on Virtus. On paper it was expected to be a balanced contest, but instead the Gialloblù blew their opponents away in the first half, going into the break 4-0 up thanks to a Verri brace. There was a timid reaction from the Acquaviva side in the second half, finding a 4-1 goal in the 47th minute through Tamagnini, but the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle. This victory allows Bugli’s men to draw level in the table – with one game fewer played – with their opponents on the day in fourth place.
The first match of the evening in Dogana saw a clear 7-1 win for La Fiorita over Murata. The Bianconeri only managed to respond to the first goal conceded; for the remainder of the match it was total domination from the side from the Castello of Montegiardino. Noteworthy was Belloni’s brace, while the only blot on the copybook for Galli’s team was the sending-off of Mariotti in the 2nd minute of the second half for a second booking. The three points allow the Gialloblù to move into second place on their own, behind leaders Fiorentino. Cellarosi’s team instead remain on 12 points, level with Tre Fiori and Virtus.
Immediately afterwards it was time for the Serravalle derby, another top-of-the-table match between Juvenes-Dogana and Folgore. The outcome reflected the standings, ending in a 2-2 draw with the Biancorossazzurri coming back from two goals down in the final five minutes. For Levani’s men there was also the late dismissal of Cavalli, who had scored the equaliser two minutes earlier. The numerical disadvantage in the closing stages had no impact on the final result. This draw leaves a bitter taste for Zonzini’s side, in his first match as an opponent, both because they lose ground in the race for second place and for failing to make the most of a two-goal lead.
The opening fixture in Domagnano pitted two sides with different ambitions from the previous matches against each other: Cailungo and Tre Penne. The Biancazzurri ran out 6-2 winners, pulling away in the second half thanks to former Cailungo player Gamba, who hit a brace. A hard-fought first half had ended 2-1 in favour of the team from the Castello of Città. The only positive note of the evening for Venerucci’s men was Flammini’s double. Conversely, it was an important victory for Ghiotti’s players, allowing them to move clear of the relegation zone.
The second match of the evening in Domagnano finished in a 1-1 draw between Faetano and Libertas, with everything decided before the interval. The Granata went in front immediately in the 2nd minute through Bacciocchi, and Casali struck the equaliser in the 14th minute for Gualtieri’s side. It is a draw of little use to either team in terms of the standings, but it does allow Penserini’s players to collect their first point of the season.
A single outdoor match was scheduled in Acquaviva at 21:45, between Pennarossa and San Giovanni. The game ended 5-2 in favour of the Biancorossi. Yet Corbelli’s side, despite numerous absences, were already two goals up by the 13th minute and went into half-time leading 2-1. The second half was dominated by the team from the Castello of Chiesanuova, who scored four times (including a Guidi hat-trick), overcoming the Rossoneri despite the sending-off of Ciacci at the end of the first half. This win lifts Casadei’s players to six points and enables them to leapfrog Faetano, while San Giovanni remain bottom on zero points after six matches.
