Integrity: training for youth national teams now done at home
There are some changes, compared to what has been in place in recent years, regarding the training of Under-17 and Under-19 national teams across Europe on regulations for combating match-fixing and the manipulation of football matches. Whereas in the past these crucial educational sessions were entrusted to the Integrity Officer of the country hosting the qualifying mini-tournament for the European Championships in each age category, since last August every national association has been responsible for the preventive training of the members of its own youth national teams.
Accordingly, the Integrity Officer for San Marino – lawyer Massimiliano Rosti – has scheduled two meetings, both to be held at the Acquaviva facility, where he will meet with staff and, above all, the players of San Marino’s Under-17 and Under-19 national teams. For many of them it will be the first opportunity to learn about the risks involved and the codes of conduct laid down in the regulations to counter match-fixing, both at national level and in the international framework. In fact, the Republic of San Marino also adopted a specific law against sports fraud a few years ago, in part on the initiative of the FSGC. The meetings are scheduled for 2 and 5 October, both starting at 18:00.
