Integrity: last night’s workshop for clubs and associations with Rosti and Abbadessa
Last night, at the Sala Montelupo in Domagnano, the workshop dedicated to exploring issues related to the risks and dangers associated with the manipulation of football matches was held. The training session was mandatory for presidents, officials, coaches and captains of football clubs within the San Marino system, as well as for associations affiliated to the FSGC (coaches, referees and players). Representatives of futsal clubs operating on the Titan were also in attendance.
Leading the evening was the San Marino Football Federation’s Integrity Officer, lawyer Massimiliano Rosti, who guided those present through the relevant sporting and criminal regulations. He was joined by Ignazio Francesco Abbadessa, Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bari and a member of the MARS network (Magistrati Responsabili per lo Sport – Magistrates Responsible for Sport) established by the Council of Europe. Abbadessa previously held the same role at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Cremona during the period in which it handled the "Lastbet" football betting investigation, on which he worked directly.
Those present further increased their awareness of the regulations that deter and punish attempts or acts of combine or match fixing in football matches, behind which criminal organisations’ interests often lurk. The sporting regulations, like the criminal law, are as clear as they are strict in addressing events that, unfortunately, remain very much topical.
