International appointments for San Marino match officials
During the international break, San Marino’s international match officials have also received appointments at European level. Beltrano, Ercolani and Cordani have in fact been selected to officiate several group stage matches in the qualifying phase of the Under-17 European Championships, both men’s and women’s.
Michele Beltrano and Gianmarco Ercolani have travelled to Albania, where Round 2 of U17 EURO qualifying is currently being played. The San Marino FIFA referee and assistant referee have been appointed to matches scheduled between 19 and 25 March involving Azerbaijan and Wales, as well as the hosts. Next Tuesday in Tirana, Beltrano will referee Albania–Wales with Ercolani as his first assistant. Two days ago, for Albania’s other fixture against Azerbaijan in Elbasan, Ercolani assisted Luxembourg’s Mueller, with Beltrano acting as fourth official.
Laura Cordani, meanwhile, has headed to Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland. In two days’ time Group B1 of Round 2 of qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Under-17 EURO will come to a close. Alongside the hosts are Kazakhstan, Estonia and Montenegro. Appointed as first assistant to Iceland’s Briet Bragadottir on the first two matchdays (17 and 20 March, Kazakhstan–Estonia and Estonia–Montenegro), Cordani will serve as second assistant at Seaview in Belfast on Sunday, when Latvia’s Jermolajeva will referee Estonia–Northern Ireland. The Northern Irish mini-tournament has made history in world refereeing: for the first time, a transgender referee has taken charge of an international match. This is Israel’s Sapir Berman.
