League: Cailungo and Juvenes-Dogana knock each other out

It turned out exactly as Murata and San Giovanni had hoped. Cailungo and Juvenes-Dogana, facing each other in a head‑to‑head clash, draw and effectively wipe out their respective hopes of overtaking the Bianconeri – who had a bye this week – and the Rossoneri in the race for a Preliminary Round spot. Protti’s side stay ahead of Amati’s, but it is scant consolation: Cailungo could in theory make up the three-point gap to Murata on the final matchday, but the head‑to‑head record will still hand the Bianconeri band a ticket to the Preliminary Round with a game to spare. The same goes for San Giovanni: the Rossoneri, who are one point ahead of Murata and still have one more match to play than Fabbri’s team, also mathematically secured last night their place beyond the regular season. In this case there is not even any need to look at head‑to‑head meetings, given the more than sufficient gap separating Tognacci’s side from third‑from‑bottom. It takes over an hour of play before the match in Montecchio – a real play‑off, with only the winners able to continue dreaming of the Preliminary Round – is finally unlocked: it is former Cailungo man Acquarelli who puts Juvenes-Dogana in front. Cailungo hit back immediately through Benedetti, before Juvenes regain the lead thanks to another defender, Cevoli. That is still not the final twist: Santucci has the last word, and in the 4th minute of added time, after Iuzzolino’s red card, he makes it a draw which, more than ever in this case, is no use to either side. In fact, for both of them it amounts to an unforgiving sentence. With the battle for 12th place now officially over, the scrap at the top remains wide open. Tre Penne slip up against Faetano and thus hand La Fiorita two chances to complete the decisive overtake: as early as this evening the Gialloblù could catch and in fact leapfrog – by virtue of a better head‑to‑head record – their historic rivals from Città. But even if Lasagni’s men were to fail against Pennarossa, they would still get another shot on the final matchday, when Tre Penne will sit out. All of Ceci’s sharpshooters drew a blank last night: it ends 0-0 with Faetano. Here is the schedule for the 29th league round:
