League: Cailungo v San Giovanni pushed back to Sunday in Acquaviva

Yesterday’s fog in Domagnano, in addition to forcing the postponement of Cosmos v San Giovanni to this evening in Montecchio (from 21:15, restarting at 0-2 in the 55th minute), had further knock-on effects on Tognacci’s side’s week. The Rossoneri have in fact seen their derby with Cailungo moved to Sunday at 18:15, to guarantee one extra rest day compared with the original Saturday scheduling. The Rossoverdi, moreover, will go into their seventh league fixture without Roberto Sarti on the bench, after he was relieved of his duties as first-team coach yesterday following the dramatic elimination from the Coppa Titano.

Tomorrow night there are instead big points up for grabs in Acquaviva, where Tre Penne and Tre Fiori will face off. Berardi’s team are coming off two games without a win: the league defeat to Cosmos was followed by a far less painful 2-2 draw with Domagnano in the Coppa Titano. Lining up against them is one of the form sides of this early part of the season: Tre Fiori have won seven of their eight games so far and top the league table with a 100% record after six rounds. There is no shortage of technical quality and competitive edge to expect a top-class match.

The Saturday afternoon schedule is therefore reduced to three matches. Libertas v La Fiorita will be broadcast live on FIFA+. The clash kicks off at 15:00 in Domagnano, with the Gialloblù starting as favourites on paper. Beyond their superior technical quality, Libertas come into it on the back of extra time in the Coppa Titano – where they needed a penalty shoot-out to clinch qualification. Ceci’s side avoided the same fate at the death, celebrating Olcese’s winning goal not before the 85th minute. After licking their wounds from the cup, Folgore and Pennarossa meet in Acquaviva (15:00) looking to bounce back in the league. The Falciano club are hoping that this evening’s head‑to‑head at the top will allow them to close the gap on the leaders (currently six points). But Ricchiuti’s side deserve attention too, increasingly solid and coming off two wins in their last three league matches. Murata v Domagnano is also being played at the same time, scheduled in Montecchio. On the synthetic pitch where they usually hold their midweek training sessions, the Bianconeri booked their place in the Coppa Titano quarter‑finals, overcoming Faetano over 180 minutes (3-1 on aggregate). On the other side, Amati’s team want to build on the excellent performances produced against Tre Penne and Juvenes-Dogana.

The Serravalle club will be showing their hand on Sunday at 15:00 when they face Fiorentino for the second time this week. Yesterday’s meeting was clearly won on both the scoreline and in terms of play by Juvenes-Dogana, who ran out 3-0 winners while only really being tested in the opening stages. Costantini’s Rossoblù will naturally be out for revenge, having gone four league games without a win and three without scoring. The Academy are also involved in Sunday’s later kick-offs: Roberto Di Maio’s Biancazzurrini are eager to quickly move on from the heavy defeat suffered against Murata and – capitalising on the fact they are not involved in the Coppa Titano – produce a convincing performance against Cosmos, who are back on the pitch again this evening with the possibility of extra time to be played.

Before the concluding act which – as mentioned – will see Cailungo take on San Giovanni, it will be the turn of Faetano v Virtus. The new Gialloblù technical project, recently entrusted to Sperindio, is naturally still in its bedding‑in phase – although even in the midweek fixture against Murata there were already some encouraging signs. For the Neroverdi, the same logic as for the Academy applies: not having to play the Coppa Titano round of 16 (as holders of the trophy, in this case) has allowed Bizzotto’s side to prepare in the best possible way for Sunday’s clash in Montecchio (16:00), which could take them top – provided Tre Penne manage a positive result in the early kick-off.
