League: Cosmos and Tre Penne win at the death, Virtus unstoppable
Tre Penne faced Domagnano in the standout fixture of Matchday 5 in the 2026-27 Campionato Sammarinese, a game which, for the club from Città, had joint top spot at stake with a perfect record alongside Folgore – rampant in yesterday’s early fixture. The other two sides from Serravalle, Cosmos and Juvenes Dogana, went head-to-head in the Castello derby, while Virtus imposed their authority on San Marino Academy.
The match in Acquaviva was unlocked after just ten minutes thanks to a close-range header by Madonna, turning in Badalassi’s knock-down. The lead was doubled on 24 minutes with a perfect free-kick from Amati, who found the top corner with a left-footer over the wall. On the half-hour the boys coached by Muratori all but sealed the points: Piscitella, who had squandered a one-on-one with Amici in the 16th minute, made amends by meeting Buonocunto’s assist and volleying home from close range. Before the break, Lisanti also found a way onto the scoresheet with a two-yard tap-in, finishing off a move he had started with a dummy and which also featured captain Ciacci’s goal-line clearance from a Piscitella right-footed effort. Earlier, the Academy had threatened through an initiative by Famiglietti – thwarted by an alert Madonna, who beat Podeschi to the ball in the middle of the area. The pattern did not change after the restart, which opened with a penalty won by Lisanti and converted by Buonocunto on 50 minutes. Virtus wasted further chances to pad their goal tally through Buonocunto and Gjoni, while the Academy went close to a consolation strike with a header by Nicola Molinari – picked out by Renzi and denied by Venturini – and, previously, with Delvecchio’s right-footed effort into the side-netting. In between, a fine reflex save from Amici on a Piscitella strike, while in the final stages Molinari again sent the last chance of the game – and for the Academy – just over the crossbar.
At the “Federico Crescentini” the first half belonged almost entirely to Tre Penne, who were close to taking the lead through the Pastorelli-Carrer axis. The chance created by Casadio was more concrete: his right-footed effort from medium range crashed off the post after a great save by Maggioli. Moments later Guglielmi was decisive, stepping in for his goalkeeper to deny Bartoli the 1-0 goal. Amati’s side finally showed a sign of life on the half-hour with a header from an excellent position by Michelucci. The half ended with off-target attempts by Casadio and former Domagnano man Ceccaroli. The San Marino winger had a glaring chance just thirty seconds after the restart, shooting wide when clean through on Maggioli. Two further big chances for Casadio and Bartoli also went begging. An hour of undisputed dominance from Tre Penne threatened to vanish first with an effort from Michelucci, who struck the base of the post with a curling left-footer, and then with Bonetti’s ensuing tap-in, off target with the goal gaping. The match turned in the final quarter of an hour, which Domagnano played a man down after Rigoni was sent off. A few minutes later, Maggioli had to intervene to stop an effort from Islamaj. It was Ruiz’s thunderbolt of a left foot that broke the deadlock on 79 minutes, giving the goalkeeper no chance with a long-range strike of rare power and precision. Five minutes from time Pieri added the insurance goal, making the most of his strength and height in the penalty area. A fifth, fully deserved win from five outings for Giovanni Bonini’s team, who even flirted with a third goal when another piledriver from Ruiz rattled the crossbar – the Biancazzurri’s third woodwork of the day.
The local derby in the Castello di Serravalle between Cosmos and Juvenes Dogana provided early drama with an error by Palazzi who – after gifting Benedetti acres of space on the edge of the final third – got away with it thanks to experience and a bit of risk. The match was fiercely contested and played at a good tempo, but the first shot on target did not arrive until the 22nd minute, when Cremonini tested Colonna. Soon after, Guidotti got his feet tangled, squandering a chance akin to a penalty in open play, created by a perfect coast-to-coast run and assist from D’Addario. The closing stages of the half belonged to Juvenes Dogana, dangerous with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box by Dormi. After the interval the Biancorossazzurri came out more convincingly, though they still failed to really trouble Semprini. The exception was a miraculous save on Dormi in the 55th minute, which was rendered moot by the playmaker’s offside position. Twenty minutes later the deadlock was finally broken: Nicola Sartini – making his first appearance against his former club – put Cosmos ahead with an unchallenged header from a Cremonini corner. The scoreline would not change again, while Juvenes Dogana – on top of having to swallow defeat – will have to do without Amadori for at least one match after his straight red card for a violent blow on Bottoni deep into stoppage time.
