League: Cosmos-Domagnano ends goalless, wins for Virtus and Cailungo

There were three Friday evening early kick-offs scheduled in the third matchday of the 2025-26 Campionato Sammarinese. After big wins over Pennarossa and Libertas, Domagnano faced their first real test of strength against a Cosmos side that had wobbled in the opening 180 minutes of the season, suffering two defeats. The clash in Dogana was anything but dull, with the Sammarinese – and respective former players – Ceccaroli and Santi both squandering a golden chance apiece to break the deadlock. The game remained lively after the restart, but Papi and Semprini were not overly troubled – meaning that the nets remained untouched right through to the final whistle. Cosmos get off the mark with their first point of the campaign, while Domagnano move up to seven points – temporarily top of the table.

In Domagnano it was the derby of the Castello di Borgo Maggiore between Libertas and Cailungo, with both sides still chasing their first victory of the tournament. The first half was extremely balanced, and it took a single episode to tilt the contest in favour of the Rossoverdi. A free-kick from the byline by Michelucci took a deflection off the wall and looped up, turning into the most inviting of chances for Bua, who scored for the second match running. Sarti’s men managed their lead with composure after the break, limiting the Granata’s attacking efforts, who were almost never dangerous around Gallinetta’s goal. A deserved win was thus secured, lifting Cailungo to four points, while Libertas are left with a bitter taste after a second straight defeat.

All the pre-match favouritism was on Virtus’ side in their meeting with Pennarossa at the Acquaviva Stadium. However, Bizzotto’s team needed a moment of brilliance from Zenoni to break the deadlock. Just before the half-hour mark, the former Pennarossa man received the ball wide on the left, cut inside onto his stronger foot and curled a right-footed effort beyond Lazzarini’s reach. The Neroverdi had already gone close through Buonocunto and Sabato, and later with Capicchioni. Early in the second half, after a Gregori free-kick from the edge of the area flew over, Virtus doubled their advantage on 52 minutes through Buonocunto, who headed home a perfect cross from the ever-dangerous Zenoni. Armando Amati wrapped things up midway through the second half from a set piece, whipping an unstoppable left-footer past Lazzarini, who could do nothing to prevent the champions from scoring a third. Awaiting the results of Tre Fiori and Tre Penne, the Neroverdi join Domagnano at the summit on seven points.
