©FSGC/Novelli - All of La Fiorita’s joy after Guidi’s last-gasp equaliser: the big match with Tre Fiori ends 2-2
League: Guidi stuns Tre Fiori in stoppage time, Bonetti on target as Virtus lose after more than a year
Stoppage time proves decisive in the matches involving leaders Virtus and Tre Fiori. Matchday 11 of the league delivers drama right to the final whistle, with the Neroverdi beaten by Domagnano and La Fiorita snatching a last-gasp draw with Tre Fiori. The table now reads: Tre Fiori 27, Virtus 26 and Domagnano 24.
The headline result is the defeat of reigning champions Virtus, who had not lost in the league for more than a year (5/10/2024, 3-1 against Cosmos). In Fiorentino, the first half is cagey, with the Giallorossi slightly more dangerous in the final third. The first chance falls to Perazzini (19’), followed around the half-hour mark by one for Mingucci. Virtus respond with a Scappini header, easily dealt with by Papi. Sopranzi and Ciacci also try their luck, but the score remains unchanged. After the restart, Bizzotto’s side look to shift gear with Lombardi and Scappini, while the best opportunity is on Rinaldi’s head – meeting a perfect cross from Buonocunto – but he sends it just wide. The game stays finely balanced and everything points towards a draw, but Domagnano strike in added time. Long clearance from Papi, Gori fails to deal with it and the ball reaches Famiglietti, who brings it down and lays it off on the edge of the box for Bonetti, who unleashes a right-footed drive that is lethal for Passaniti. The entire bench spills onto the pitch to celebrate the Giallorossi forward, who becomes the new leading scorer with 8 goals. It is Virtus’ first league defeat and the second game in a row without scoring. Domagnano, meanwhile, extend their unbeaten run and have now not conceded in five matches.
Non-stop thrills as well in Montecchio for the other big match of the day. Tre Fiori and La Fiorita draw 2-2, with the Gialloblù from Fiorentino denied at the death by Guidi. But let’s rewind the tape of the match. Girolomoni’s side start better, with Benedettini on a couple of occasions forcing Vivan into action, the keeper responding with two excellent saves. Tre Fiori keep pushing and on 14 minutes Rea’s effort on the turn in the box crashes off the crossbar. After all that pressure, the Fiorentino side make the breakthrough on 26 minutes from a Sami corner, met by Sirri timing his leap perfectly to power home the opener. La Fiorita refuse to roll over and get themselves back on track: a free-kick from Cicarelli sneaks past the wall and beats Nardi at his near post. Four minutes later, Tre Fiori are back in front: a long ball from the back by Sirri picks out Scarcella on the right, who cuts inside and stubbornly finishes with the outside of his right boot, not powerful but accurate into the far corner. After the break, La Fiorita press repeatedly through Olcese (73’) and Affonso (77’), as well as substitute Nappello, but Tre Fiori hold firm. Five minutes of stoppage time are indicated. That extra time, however, is extended due to an issue involving Rea and the clock ticks to 90+7. Throw-in in an advanced area for La Fiorita, Grandoni launches it, Vandi gets a touch but not enough and in the ensuing scramble it is Guidi who proves decisive, steering past Nardi for the final 2-2. Despite the draw, Tre Fiori move into top spot on their own.
The slip-ups by Virtus and Tre Fiori are also maximised by Tre Penne, who beat Folgore 3-1 to reduce the gap to the summit. The game in Domagnano is unlocked midway through the first half when Pieri wins it back off Gaido and lays it off perfectly for Errico, who strikes it superbly first time to beat De Angelis. In the second half, Bonini’s side double their lead from the spot: a clear handball from Miori and from twelve yards Errico makes no mistake. It is his third goal in two games, after scoring in the cup, for the former Cosmos man. Tre Penne’s seal comes on 84 minutes, again from the penalty spot: this time it is Pieri who earns it, and Turchetta who converts. In stoppage time, Folgore pull one back through Pancotti, who heads in a cross from Ura, but it is too late for Lasagni’s team, whose last defeat dated back to 17 October.
Juvenes-Dogana also win, scoring in each half to get the better of San Marino Academy. Boldrini’s side are in front after just seven minutes thanks to a lovely move: Stefano Sartini steps out from the back line and exchanges passes with Nicola Sartini, whose back-heel flick releases the defender, who from the edge of the box fires in with his left to make it 1-0. On 33 minutes Juvenes-Dogana are inches away from a second when Nicola Sartini’s powerful right-footed effort thunders against the bar. The Academy cannot find a reaction and in the 53rd minute the Serravalle club strike again: short corner worked by Aprea, who delivers into the middle for the head of Nicola Sartini, who doubles the lead. The goal finally jolts the Titani into life and on 56 minutes they go close through Della Balda’s wicked strike, which Bakalyar clears virtually off the line. The Academy, though, are unable to reopen the contest and Juvenes-Dogana can manage proceedings through to the final whistle. It is a second straight win for Boldrini’s side, who – pending tomorrow’s results – move above Cosmos into seventh place. Matchday 11 of the league concludes tomorrow with four more fixtures, all kicking off at 15:00.
