League: Hassler masterclass as Murata win after almost a year, Academy halt La Fiorita

Two rather surprising results this afternoon brought the curtain down on Matchday 2 of the 2026-27 Campionato Sammarinese. A second consecutive draw for La Fiorita, who after being held by Virtus are stopped by an excellent San Marino Academy side (1-1). Murata return to winning ways after almost a year (their last victory dates back to 19 October 2025, against the Academy) and do so thanks to a superb Luca Hassler, who leads them to a 4-1 win over Pennarossa.

In Acquaviva it is the Biancorossi who break the deadlock inside the opening ten minutes: captain Marco Evaristi plays vertically for Abouzziane, who battles his way into the box past two opponents and then finishes calmly with his right foot. Murata reply with a good effort from Pasolini, but Manzaroli is equal to it. As the minutes pass, however, the Bianconeri – today in a cyclamen-coloured shirt – grow into the game and half an hour in they even turn the score around. The equaliser comes from the Hassler–Capriotti combination, with the former Faetano man making the most of his team-mate’s fine pass from inside the area. After the assist, Murata’s number ten puts his side in front just two minutes later: Hassler picks it up on the three-quarter line and sows panic in the area, dribbling past two men, then lifting the ball over Manzaroli as well before shooting towards the empty net. Guida attempts a last-ditch clearance, but the referee rules that the ball has crossed the line. At the end of an open, end-to-end first half, Pennarossa threaten again with a fine effort from Mema, but Olivieri is well positioned.

After the restart, it takes only three minutes for Hassler to steal the show again: the number ten wins the ball back in his own half and puts on the afterburners, leaving both Diedhou and Abouzzine for dead as they try to close him down. Once one-on-one with Manzaroli, he opts for a delightful dinked finish that lifts the ball over the goalkeeper for another outstanding goal. Two goals down, Costantini’s Pennarossa try to react, with Mema leading the charge, but Olivieri again denies the forward. Murata begin to suffer, while the Chiesanuova outfit grow in confidence and come close to reopening the contest on several occasions. Their clearest chance comes on 68 minutes, when Luca Evaristi’s shot is deflected by his brother Marco; the ball ricochets around the box, wrong-footing Olivieri, but neither Mema nor Calderone manage to turn it in. Pennarossa pour forward in search of a way back, but in the 84th minute they are hit by the move that makes it 4-1 and effectively settles the match: Palumbo intercepts and releases Piantkivskyy in behind; he squares it to the inevitable Hassler – who has continued his run – and the forward signs off his personal hat-trick on a memorable afternoon for Murata’s number ten.

Meanwhile, the clash in Montecchio between La Fiorita and San Marino Academy Under-22 ends all square, with one goal apiece. Cancelli’s youngsters make a flying start, creating a double chance: first through Grandoni and then – in the same move – through Canarezza, but on both occasions Matteo Zavoli reacts brilliantly. The Academy keep pushing and on 5 minutes deservedly take the lead through Diego Zavoli – drafted in during the warm-up in place of Montali – who manages to force the ball home in a goalmouth scramble following a Titani corner. La Fiorita roar back and ten minutes later restore parity: Errico pulls it back from the by-line for the onrushing Cicarelli, who strikes it first time superbly and finds the top corner, where Pietro Amici – a new entry between the posts for the Academy – has no chance of reaching it. Over the next half-hour it is the Academy who look the better side and continue to pose a threat, notably through long-range efforts from Nicola Molinari and Canarezza. The second half begins as the first ended, with the Academy straight back on the front foot: a powerful strike from the edge of the area by Canarezza on 50 minutes draws another excellent save from Matteo Zavoli. La Fiorita respond, determined to get their noses in front, and their best chance comes on 59 minutes with a dangerous shot-cross from Serges that no team-mate can get on the end of. In the closing stages the Academy threaten even to snatch all three points: a surging run from Grandoni on 83 minutes takes him past Barretta and to the by-line, but his cut-back into the box is cleared by Mazzotti, who is well placed. It ends 1-1, with the Academy picking up their first point of the season, while La Fiorita lose ground on the summit – now four points away.
