League: Libertas beat and close in on Faetano, draws in the other early kick-offs

Libertas wipe out the defeat against La Fiorita – which the Sports Judge had converted from a 0-1 to a 0-3 forfeit due to the maroon side’s failure to field at least two San Marino players on the pitch at the same time – by overtaking and closing in on Faetano in the table. The latter had managed to respond, at the start of the second half, to Cardini’s men taking the lead through Nigretti. However, the parity restored by Palazzi was broken again by the Borgo Maggiore side in the 68th minute, when Giovagnoli stepped up to score the goal which, at the final whistle – coming shortly after Moretti’s sending-off for a second yellow card – would prove decisive. Libertas make the most of their return to winning ways to also put some distance between themselves and Folgore: the Falciano side are in fact forced to end their shared position with the maroon outfit after a goalless draw with Fiorentino. The latter still stay one point ahead of Domagnano, who in turn cannot do better than a draw against Cailungo. Lightning lead for the team coached by former boss Protti, who find the net in the 5th minute through Benedetti. Angelini haul Domagnano back onto level terms on the half-hour mark, for a 1-1 scoreline that will also be the final result. The Giallorossi maintain a nine-point cushion over third from bottom, while the Rossoverdi for the moment move one further step closer to the Preliminary Round spots, but could lose a lot, and perhaps too much, ground this evening if San Giovanni and Murata were to spring an upset against Pennarossa and La Fiorita.
