League: post-season kicks off tomorrow with two Preliminary Round fixtures

With the regular season of the Campionato Sammarinese wrapped up just a few days ago, tomorrow the curtain rises on the post-season with the two matches of the Preliminary Round.

Tomorrow night’s games, scheduled for 20:45, will be straight knockout ties. At the Ezio Conti in Dogana, Fiorentino and Juvenes-Dogana will go head to head. It will undoubtedly be a special match for Fabrizio Costantini – current Fiorentino coach and former manager of the Dogana club. In addition, on the Juvenes-Dogana bench, Costantini will be reunited with Achille Fabbri, his technical assistant during his spell in charge of the San Marino National Team.

In the event of a draw after ninety minutes, no extra time (or penalties) will be played; instead, the team that finished higher in the regular season will qualify for the play-off bracket. Fiorentino (8th in the regular season) therefore have two results out of three in their favour; consequently, Juvenes-Dogana (11th) will have to win to go through.

There have been two meetings between the sides this season, with both matches ending in draws (both goalless). Fiorentino defender Luca Bottoni will miss out through suspension. A curiosity: Fiorentino will face Juvenes-Dogana with their third different head coach of the season (on 30 August 2024 it was Acori, on 18 January 2025 Tarini, and tomorrow night it will be Costantini).

 Like Fiorentino, Murata will also have two results out of three available to keep their post-season run going. Tomorrow, Camillini’s Bianconeri will take on Ricchiuti’s Faetano: the Gialloblù, who finished the regular season in tenth place, must win to reach the Quarter-finals. The head-to-head record this season also favours Faetano: a win in the first half of the season (1-0, Brisigotti) and a draw in the recent clash on 18/4 (2-2, Gialloblù goals by Tolomeo and again Brisigotti). Kick-off in Montecchio is at 20:45.

 In the event of qualification, the lower-ranked team will face La Fiorita in the play-off Quarter-finals, while the higher-ranked side will take on Tre Fiori (first legs scheduled for Sunday 4 May, second legs on Wednesday 7 May).
