League resumes: three big clubs in action on Friday
After the international break, which saw San Marino record their first ever competitive win and the Under-21s finally return to scoring ways after a long wait, the second matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese is now just around the corner. Three early fixtures are scheduled for Friday 13 September, when Cosmos, La Fiorita and Tre Penne will all take to the field. Lepri’s side face a test against Murata at the Acquaviva Stadium. The San Marino runners-up, meanwhile, take on Cailungo at the Ezio Conti in Dogana, while the club from Città lock horns with Faetano at the Domagnano ground.
Three more games are set for the early afternoon on Saturday, all kicking off at 15:00. On paper the pick of the bunch, Domagnano v Virtus will see Bizzotto’s team called on to react after drawing their opener with San Giovanni. As for the Wolves, they will be eager to stay ahead, at least for another round, of the side currently wearing the Scudetto on their shirts. While this match is scheduled for Fiorentino, Tre Fiori v San Marino Academy will be played in Acquaviva. It’s a double international commitment for Matteo Cecchetti’s Under-21s against Italy and Türkiye, a squad whose core is largely made up of players from the San Marino Academy Under-22s. Tre Fiori are aiming to maintain a perfect record after the first 180 minutes of the league season. On the other hand, Folgore opened their campaign precisely against the Gialloblù: their chance for redemption comes in Domagnano, where they face Pennarossa. The size of their defeat in the opener (0-3) should not be misleading; the Chiesanuova club also produced some promising play against Murata.
Looking ahead to Sunday, San Giovanni meet Fiorentino at the "Federico Crescentini" Stadium, while Juvenes-Dogana and Libertas face off on the artificial pitch in Domagnano. Both matches kick off at 15:00.
The opening round of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese is being broadcast live via streaming with Italian commentary on TITANI.TV.
