League: second legs of the play-off semi-finals tomorrow

Tomorrow evening marks the start of the decisive – and final – week of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese. After the first-leg matches played last Saturday, on Tuesday 13 the curtain will rise on the second legs of the play-off semi-finals, which will determine the two teams that next Saturday (17 May) will compete in the final with a place in Europe at stake.

 The most finely balanced tie is the one scheduled for tomorrow evening in Montecchio (20:45) between Cosmos and La Fiorita. Last Saturday in Dogana the match finished goalless, so Andy Selva’s Gialloverdi will now have to go all out for victory – by any scoreline. The Serravalle club, in fact, must win if they want to return to the final – as in 2023 – because if there is another draw it will be La Fiorita who qualify thanks to their better position in the regular season. Cosmos have also yet to beat Ceci’s Gialloblù this season (two draws and one defeat). The only player one booking away from suspension in this tie is Simone Loiodice of Cosmos, who will have to be careful not to receive a yellow card that would rule him out of the final should his side progress.

 The final looks closer instead for Tre Fiori, who resume from last Saturday’s 2-1 win over San Giovanni. Tognacci’s Rossoneri will need a perfect performance if they are to target the final and secure a first-ever European qualification for the Borgo Maggiore club. San Giovanni in fact will have to win by at least two goals to overturn the first-leg result and reach the showpiece. The most recent head-to-head is encouraging for the Rossoneri – on 26 April – when Tognacci’s side ran out 4-1 winners. In the reverse fixture of the regular season, however, Tre Fiori won 2-0. There are no players one booking away from suspension among either the Rossoneri or the Gialloblù. This match will also be played tomorrow evening at 20:45 in Dogana.
