League: two derbies on the menu for Matchday Two

Just one Friday night curtain-raiser in the schedule for the second league matchday, kicked off by the clash between Virtus and Pennarossa. Both sides were in action in Acquaviva on the opening day and will meet there again tomorrow evening, but with very different mindsets. Bizzotto’s Neroverdi are looking to build on their last-gasp victory over Tre Fiori, while Pennarossa need to immediately erase the narrow defeat suffered against Fiorentino, the result of a moment of individual brilliance from Niang. The Rossoblù, naturally, want to restart from the surge of adrenaline banked last Friday. Standing in Camillini’s men’s way in Domagnano on Saturday will be a wounded Cailungo side, beaten 2-0 by Folgore and therefore more eager than ever to bounce back. Also on Saturday, spotlight on Folgore v Cosmos. The league has only just begun, yet this derby between two teams who both took three points on opening day already has a certain appeal, with the pair currently level in the table. A win and a clean sheet for the Giallorossoneri, while their Gialloverdi “cousins” did concede once against Domagnano but scored exactly twice as many as Folgore: four goals to two. The match will be played in Acquaviva. In Fiorentino, Tre Fiori will be looking for an immediate reaction after their late defeat to Virtus. But attention must also be paid to the mood in the camp of a San Giovanni side that has started the season on the right foot, beating San Marino Academy 3-1. Tre Fiori will be without Tomassoni, sent off in the previous round for a second yellow card. Rounding off Saturday’s card is the meeting between Libertas and Murata, with the Granata still on zero points after losing – despite having a numerical advantage – to La Fiorita, and the Bianconeri buoyed by their 5-0 opening-day win over Faetano. The venue for this fixture is Domagnano. On the same pitch on Sunday, Juvenes-Dogana will be looking for confirmation of the good performance produced against reigning champions Tre Penne. That ended 1-1, but now Amati’s men are targeting the full haul against a Domagnano side that must immediately put behind it the 4-1 defeat to Cosmos. In Fiorentino it’s time for the “Marano derby”, with La Fiorita missing Guidi (sent off against Libertas and suspended for two games) but coming into it on the back of that victory over Libertas, and a Faetano team that above all must show a mental reaction after the 5-0 reverse on Matchday One. The round concludes with the clash between San Marino Academy Under 22 and Tre Penne. The champions of the Titano are still trying to find the right balance after a start to the season that saw them lose the Super Cup and then be held to a draw in their league opener. On the other side, Cecchetti’s youngsters have broken the ice against San Giovanni – performing well in the process – and are determined to continue their growth path against such a prestigious opponent.
