San Marino Championship - 26 October 2025

League: Virtus draw level at the top, third in a row for Cosmos

Virtus edge past Faetano and draw level with Tre Fiori at the top of the league. In today’s match from the seventh round, Bizzotto’s men make the most of Girolomoni’s Gialloverdi being held up, racking up their fifth win on the spin. Early on, though, it’s Faetano who scare the champions of San Marino with Romano’s header that drifts just wide. Virtus begin to take control and on 26 minutes they move in front: a pinpoint Buonocunto free-kick is met by the winning header of Zenoni. Buonocunto is then the negative protagonist at the start of the second half: the number ten has the chance from the penalty spot to double his side’s lead but his effort crashes off the angle of post and bar. Faetano thus stay in the game and, on the hour mark, restore parity: Romano tears down the right and sprints away; once in the box he fires a powerful ball across goal, Battistini gets there to intercept but only succeeds in turning it into his own net. After the own goal, Virtus regroup and ten minutes later they nose in front again: a wonderful move from the Neroverdi with Montanari playing vertically for Buonocunto who, with a delightful back‑heel, picks out Scappini, leaving him with a simple finish in front of Lazzarini. It’s the goal that seals the three points for Virtus, who in the closing stages go close again through Villanova and Scappini. Bizzotto will happily take it: victory and joint top with Tre Fiori.

Cosmos are also in great form, beating San Marino Academy 3-1 to claim their third consecutive win. In Acquaviva, Selva’s side break the deadlock on 12 minutes when Monceri delivers from the right into the middle, where Islamaj makes no mistake from point‑blank range. The former Tre Fiori man is ruthless again shortly afterwards as he doubles his team’s lead: a cross from the left into the area, Zavoli and Borasco get in each other’s way and so Islamaj has a simple task to make it 2-0. Right at the end of the half, Cosmos add a third: Mazzoni plays vertically for Fermi who, first time from the edge of the box, serves Mossolini perfectly, and he then beats Borasco. After the restart, the Academy begin in the best possible way: on 50 minutes, Alessandro Righi’s thunderbolt is as beautiful as it is effective, hitting the back of the net and pulling one back. Cosmos, however, remain in control and late on (82’) it takes a double save from Borasco to prevent further damage for the Academy. The Serravalle club win and move into double figures in the table, up to 7th place.

Over in Domagnano, the clash between Juvenes-Dogana and Fiorentino ends in a fair draw. Boldrini’s side go in front after just five minutes: Pasolini plays it into the area for Aprea, who does well to angle his right‑footed shot to make it 1-0 to Juvenes-Dogana. Four minutes later, Costantini’s Fiorentino – coached by the former Juvenes-Dogana boss – have the chance to level, but Evaristi’s penalty is saved by Davide Colonna.

At the start of the second half, however, Fiorentino get another opportunity from the spot. Abouzziane’s effort on 49 minutes strikes Bakalyar’s arm, and it’s another penalty. This time Abouzziane steps up, makes no mistake and makes it 1-1. The score stays that way until the final whistle, with a point apiece.

First league win, meanwhile, for San Giovanni, who defeat Cailungo 3-1. The 18:15 kick-off in Acquaviva is lively and entertaining, with the Rossoverdi immediately taking the lead thanks to a precise diagonal strike from the edge of the area by Michelucci. It’s only a brief illusion for Cailungo because D’Angeli is on fire and turns it around in three minutes. He first strikes on 22 minutes, latching onto Boldrini’s fine long ball with a powerful effort at the near post, then shows great awareness to pounce on Guglione’s poor back‑pass and beat Gallinetta again. As well as D’Angeli, the Rossoneri also have to thank an excellent Alessandro Casadei between the sticks, who keeps his side’s goal intact on more than one occasion. In the second half, the goal that kills off the contest arrives on 75 minutes through Tumidei, who does well to meet Tiraferri’s superb cross and finish with a fine right‑footed volley. San Giovanni therefore take the win and leapfrog Cailungo in the table.
