Match officials: pre-play-off camp attended by Andrea Marzaloni

In view of the post-season of the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301 and the BKN301 Coppa Titano final, the entire refereeing body of the Titano gathered at the San Marino Stadium for a technical camp, held last Tuesday on the eve of the Preliminary Round of the play-offs. Many topics were addressed during the day, which was opened by CAN President Cristiano Ascari with a focus on the key aspect of concentration. A fundamental factor which, he stressed, referees must always guarantee – before the match, during the game itself and even after the final whistle, when filling in the match report. The technical detail was then covered by CAN Head of Training, Giacomo Cenci. Assisted by Stefano Podeschi, he showed video clips from Campionato Sammarinese matches, which provided extremely interesting insights into team work and cooperation between the members of the refereeing teams of four. The welcome guest at the referees’ camp on 23 April was Andrea Marzaloni from the AIA Rimini section. A top-level assistant referee, over the course of his career he has been appointed to 150 Serie A matches, while since 2017 he has served on various technical bodies within the AIA National Commissions. First of all, together with the National Referees Commission, Marzaloni met with the ASA referee observers, addressing the tactical aspects involved in assessing a referee, with particular emphasis on SPA and DOGSO situations. In the evening, the final training module took place. In a Press Room packed with all the members present, the topic of Game Management was examined in depth – the complexity of managing a match, which referees have to deal with week in, week out. This included handling dissent, applying the advantage in specific match situations and dealing with mass confrontation. During the camp, referees and assistant referees also took part in a joint training session led by fitness coach Simone Savoretti, as well as a quiz session on the Laws of the Game.
