National Team in Liechtenstein, Cevoli and Nanni: "Tough match, but we want all three points"

The San Marino National Team arrived in the late afternoon at the Rheinpark Stadion in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, where tomorrow evening they will face the hosts in the match that will decide the fate of the three sides in Group D2 of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League. Gibraltar, in the worst-case scenario, will finish second; Liechtenstein cannot do better than the runners-up spot as they look to avoid ending bottom. San Marino, currently in that very middle position, face a real watershed: a win would mean promotion to League C, a draw would seal a place in the play-offs to be played in March 2026, while defeat would consign them to last place despite the four points collected so far. "The boys are in very good shape, both physically and mentally," assured Roberto Cevoli in the pre-match press conference. "We are ready to play an important and stimulating match, as our opponents will be as well. I expect a tough game just like the first leg, when we managed to win thanks to a single incident. These are complicated matches, in which they also have a lot to play for and just as much to lose. They won’t give us anything, we have to be aware of that, and on our side we must do our very best." Nicola Nanni, the headline-maker in the 1-1 draw with Gibraltar two days ago – earned thanks to his converted penalty in the 90+2 minute – also looks ahead to tomorrow’s clash. "As the coach said, we’re expecting a complicated match. Beyond my goal, I think it’s important to focus on ourselves and it really doesn’t matter who ends up scoring; we want to come away with all three points." Nanni insists it will be a game that is not only physical: "Liechtenstein like to keep the ball, and that could mean fewer duels and second balls compared to the game with Gibraltar. That said, it will certainly be a hard-fought match because they have to win, we want to do the same, and we won’t back down." In closing, Roberto Cevoli reinforces a concept that the Titans are showing they are increasingly comfortable with: "Tomorrow as well we will go out there looking for the win; we are acquiring this mentality and we will try to keep it always. The boys have understood that in order to do things well, it is essential to start from the right approach to the match; so we will try to win from the first minute to the last, tomorrow as well." Here is the list of the twenty-three players called up by Roberto Cevoli for the fourth and final matchday of Group D2 of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League:
