National Team: neutral‑venue friendly with Azerbaijan on 9 June

San Marino’s National Team will play their fourth official friendly of the calendar year abroad, facing Azerbaijan at the neutral venue of the Haladás Stadium in Szombathely, Hungary. The match will follow the March friendlies against Faroe Islands (1-2) and Andorra (0-0), as well as the one scheduled for 5 June in Serravalle against Bangladesh (19:00).

San Marino and Azerbaijan have shared a qualifying group for a World Cup and European Championship only once, and have never been drawn in the same league in the UEFA Nations League. In the European campaign leading to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the Azeris edged a narrow win in Serravalle (0-1) in a match affected by Brolli’s dismissal early in the second half. The return fixture, played in September 2017 in Baku, is remembered for Mirko Palazzi’s headed goal (1-5), the first San Marino player to celebrate international goals both for the national team and for a club from the Republic of San Marino. The third meeting between the Titans and the Azeris will be on neutral ground and is scheduled for Tuesday 9 June 2026, with kick-off at 20:00.
