National Team: San Marino and Faroe Islands, friendly on 28 March in Serravalle

The national teams of San Marino and the Faroe Islands will cross paths again on the pitch of the San Marino Stadium more than thirty years on from their only previous meeting. Back then they shared the same EURO 1996 qualifying group and both matches went the way of the Faroese: 3-0 in Toftir and 3-1 in Serravalle, where the Titano side celebrated Mauro Valentini’s goal, which briefly halved the deficit on the night of Todi Jónsson’s hat-trick. The Faroe Islands team come into this fixture on the back of an excellent 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, finishing third in Group L – behind Croatia and Czechia – with 12 points amassed and three wins out of four in front of their home crowd.

On 28 March, for the first time, San Marino and the Faroe Islands will meet with no points at stake. The kick-off time has yet to be officially confirmed, and could be scheduled for early or late afternoon, given that the match falls on the final weekend of the month. As soon as this point is definitively settled, full information regarding ticketing will be released.
