Play Games launches, a new project to inspire the next generation of women’s football stars

Play Games is the latest step in the ongoing collaboration between UEFA and Disney, which aims to create football pathways for young girls by offering free resources to help engage them in the game and encourage them to remain involved over the long term.

Building on the success of UEFA Playmakers – which in San Marino has introduced dozens of girls aged 5 to 8 to football through the magic of Disney storytelling – Play Games is designed to support the transition from this very first football experience to the next stage. The new programme will provide free tools, again based on Disney storytelling, to help girls aged 5 to 12 take their next steps in the world of football.

Conceived as a bridge between UEFA Playmakers sessions and regular football as a team sport, Play Games gives coaches open and continuous access to online tools that support players’ development through a fun, engaging approach inspired by beloved Disney stories – with challenges and games directly based on them. The different modules are designed to guide players through their first experience of attacking and defending situations, while keeping the main objective in clear focus: turning initial enthusiasm into long-term participation by building confidence, creativity and understanding of the game.
