Referees, Beach Soccer: Delvecchio appointed for the Club World Championship in Alghero

Raffaele Delvecchio has been appointed as a FIFA beach soccer referee for the World Winners Cup, held in Alghero. Effectively the club World Cup of beach soccer, the tournament features men’s and women’s teams from all over the world. Participation is reserved for clubs that have won their respective national leagues or cups. A total of thirty-two teams, eight women’s and three times as many men’s, faced off on the sands of Sardinia. Among the eighteen appointed match officials was – as mentioned – San Marino’s international referee Raffaele Delvecchio, who took to the pitch on eight occasions as first or second referee and on a further nine as third referee or timekeeper. Among the many matches for which he was appointed, Delvecchio officiated the women’s semi-final between Spain’s Higicontrol – boasting several Spanish internationals – and Poland’s Red Devils Ladies, likewise packed with key players from the Polish national team. Today’s schedule includes the women’s final, an Israeli derby between Rosh Haayin and Falfala, for which Delvecchio has been appointed as timekeeper.
