Referees: Delvecchio appointed to EBSL Superfinals and World Winners Cup in beach soccer

Extra duty on the sand for international beach soccer referee Raffaele Delvecchio: the ASA (Associazione Sammarinese Arbitri) match official was among the referees appointed for the final stages of the Euro Beach Soccer League 2025, which ended with Italy lifting their fourth continental title. The Azzurri triumphed in the final, beating Spain 8-5; La Roja had already been officiated by Delvecchio in the group stage (a 7-5 win over Denmark). What is in effect the beach soccer equivalent of the European Championship was played in Viareggio from 9 to 14 September. The San Marino international also took charge during the final rounds of the women’s tournament, which saw Portugal crowned champions after winning the Iberian derby against Spain (who were refereed by Delvecchio in last Saturday’s semi-final, a 2-0 victory over Poland). On Sunday it was then the turn of the Division B final between Romania and Lithuania: appointed as second referee alongside Annett Unterbeck, the San Marino official oversaw a thrilling match, edged by the Baltic side 4-3.

From Tuscany, Delvecchio immediately flew to Sicily. At Lido Blu in Catania the World Winners Cup (16-21 September) is currently under way. At the foot of Mount Etna the contenders are not national teams but clubs: 24 men’s and 12 women’s sides, all chasing one of the most coveted trophies on the global beach soccer scene. On the opening day of the tournament, Delvecchio officiated Portsmouth–Falfala KQ (0-9) and Sportivo Luqueño–Vybor (3-1).
