Regions' Cup: yesterday the draw for June's final tournament in San Marino

The first UEFA competition ever to be held entirely in San Marino is now just over three months away: from 23 June the final tournament of the 13th UEFA Regions' Cup, with the San Marino Football Federation acting as organiser, will kick off. Eight teams have qualified through the Intermediate Round, including Luigi Bizzotto’s San Marino NAT side, which is placed by regulation in Group A. Yesterday morning, from 11:00 CET, the draw ceremony was streamed live on the FSGC YouTube channel. Alessandro Ciacci, San Marino RTV journalist and host of the event in English, opened proceedings by giving the floor to Marco Tura, President of the San Marino Football Federation. Shortly afterwards it was the turn of Bjorn Vassallo, Chairman of the UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee, to greet the participants and congratulate the eight qualified teams. Tournament ambassador Massimo Bonini was involved in the draw procedures, which were overseen by Marcello Alleca, UEFA Senior Competitions Manager for men's national team tournaments. In Group A, San Marino’s group, Hradec Králové (CZE), Aragón (ESP) and Vojvodina (SRB) were drawn. In Group B, meanwhile, Dolnośląski Region (POL), Länsi-Vantaan Ylpeys (FIN), Vaud (SUI) and Rijeka (CRO) were placed. The tournament debut for Bizzotto’s Biancazzurri is scheduled for 23 June against the Serbian regional selection of Vojvodina. The entire tournament will be hosted and organised on San Marino territory, making use of local accommodation facilities and suppliers, with the aim of creating a lasting legacy for the country’s whole social and economic fabric.
