Registrations open for the new football and futsal refereeing course in San Marino

The FSGC and the San Marino Referees Association have launched a new refereeing course in the Republic. Open to boys and girls aged between 14 and 35, it is completely free of charge and will be delivered through a series of weekly modules. Structured around classroom sessions and more, it will kick off on 10 March 2026 at the San Marino Stadium.

The programme is also open to registered members of the San Marino Football Federation or other sports organisations – including active players. In addition to free participation in the course, attendees will receive an official kit and materials, with no registration or membership fees now or in the future. Refereeing offers an opportunity that can be developed in both football and futsal. There is also a genuine prospect of an international career pathway, which an association affiliated to UEFA and FIFA, such as the FSGC, can offer to the most talented refereeing prospects in the country. Taking charge of matches in the Champions League, World Cup and European Qualifiers, the UEFA Futsal Champions League and the main international football and futsal competitions becomes possible through a career as a match official.

A central and indispensable role, bearing great responsibility and requiring many qualities that go far beyond physical and aerobic performance alone, refereeing is a paid career. Becoming a referee is an opportunity to be taken seriously, as it combines the physical benefits of constant, high-level physical preparation with skills linked to learning and quick decision-making under pressure and fatigue. As a metaphor for many of the recurring situations in all our lives, embarking on this path can only bring positive effects in everyday life as well – developing social skills and teamwork abilities that are valuable in any context.

The new course is already up and running and you can register right away simply by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. You can also request further information at the same e-mail address, with no obligation whatsoever. What are you waiting for? Grab this opportunity and become a referee – football needs you!
