Ruthless Folgore, Juvenes-Dogana slow down Domagnano

That the top-versus-bottom clash on matchday sixteen, pitting Cailungo against Folgore in Fiorentino, could turn into a one-sided affair was to be expected. Less predictable was the extent that this anticipated dominance would take by the end of the sixty minutes. Massimiliano Spada’s side strike as many as fifteen times, scoring eight goals in the first half and seven after the break. Four goals each for Bernardi and Chezzi, a hat-trick for Busignani and a brace for Zafferani. Before half-time Stefanelli also gets on the scoresheet, while in the second half a Marchetti own goal seals a 15-0 final score in favour of the league leaders. Fiorentino keep pace, recording a hefty win over Libertas. The final score in the only match played in Dogana is a clear-cut 7-0 for Michelotti’s men, who find their headline act in Gasperoni: four goals for him, added to Pasqualini’s brace and Carlini’s strike. Much more balanced, both in the build-up and in the verdict, was Domagnano v Juvenes-Dogana. The second match scheduled in Fiorentino sees the Giallorossi take an early lead, thanks to Bollini’s finish in the second minute. It is 1-0 at the interval; once play resumes, Claudio Zonzini’s team need just four minutes to get back on level terms. The equaliser comes from the other Zonzini in the Juvenes-Dogana ranks, Alessandro. His goal on 34 minutes would not be cancelled out. Nor would the balance of power in Group A, now virtually settled as far as the top three places are concerned – the ones that grant access to the post-season. Fiorentino could still catch Folgore who, in any case, remain unbeaten this season and last night hit triple figures for goals scored. Domagnano have now slipped too far behind the Rossoblù to realistically aim for second place and the associated advantages in the play-off draw, although they can still count on a sizeable cushion over the chasing pack.
