Safety & Security: FSGC also present at UEFA seminar

A new UEFA seminar on Safety & Security was held in Nyon and Geneva on 13 and 14 January, with the FSGC also in attendance. The meeting, organised by UEFA itself, brought together all 55 affiliated member associations along with their respective Security Officers and UEFA counterparts. Representing the San Marino Football Federation was Security Officer Michele Raschi. Over the two days, participants also had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and experts in the field of safety and security. Among them was Frank Paauw, current President of the Dutch FA, former police officer and UEFA Security Officer, who addressed the topic of managing contingencies and incidents at major events. Equally insightful was the contribution from Oliver Strudthoff, an officer of the German police who served as head of the International Police Cooperation Centre (IPCC) during UEFA EURO 2024. He outlined how the entire coordination of security measures and event management was conducted at match venues across Germany throughout the tournament. The programme then continued with an analysis of measures for managing the entry and exit flows of spectators in stadiums during major events. The case study examined by the various working groups created to share experiences was the 2024 UEFA Europa League final in Dublin (Bayer Leverkusen – Atalanta).
