Sammarinese Super Cup: Tre Fiori v La Fiorita kicks off the season
It is the eve of the 2026 Sammarinese Super Cup – the clash which, as has been the case for several years now, marks the start of a new football season on the Titano. Tomorrow evening at 20:45 in Acquaviva – with temperatures and weather conditions very different from the 2025 edition, which was played on 23 December – Tre Fiori and La Fiorita will be chasing the first trophy of the season. What we do know for sure is that, after Virtus’ dominance – they have won the last three Super Cup editions – tomorrow night a different name will be added to the roll of honour. Tre Fiori, beaten by the Neroverdi in last season’s Super Cup, already have three Super Cup titles in their cabinet (along with three Federal Trophy wins), while the Gialloblù from Montegiardino have just one – dating back to 2022. It will be a replay of the 2025-26 Coppa Titano final – the last match of last season – with the difference that this time it will be played on the artificial pitch in Acquaviva rather than at the San Marino Stadium.
“I’m expecting a battle – says Danilo Girolomoni, Tre Fiori head coach, at the pre-match press conference – because I know our opponents very well. La Fiorita have a very strong squad, further strengthened by this summer’s signings. They’ve already beaten us this year in the Coppa Titano final; in this kind of match they are definitely the toughest side you can face.”
Alongside Girolomoni is Stefano Ceci, La Fiorita head coach: “It’s the first match of the year, so it’s normal that we won’t be at our best straight away. The squad has changed a lot compared to last season, but the new arrivals have started pre-season very much on the right foot. It will be a balanced game, probably decided by a single episode.”
Also present at the press conference, together with the two coaches, are Matteo Prandelli and Gianluca Vivan. The former, Tre Fiori’s centre-forward, holds his La Fiorita counterpart – once again set for another season between the Gialloblù posts – in high regard: “Gianluca is a great friend, he was the one who brought me here to San Marino, I owe him a lot. We are among the most experienced players and this can be helpful inside our respective dressing rooms. It will be a great battle, and hopefully it will end differently from the last few times.”
Experience and the many matches played are also a factor for Vivan: “Inside the dressing room I think figures like us are important. I give everything I can for the good of the team; it’s then up to my team-mates to act accordingly. Tre Fiori are a top side; I can’t pick a favourite.”
Girolomoni and Ceci will also have to deal with four suspensions, two per team: for the Gialloblù, reigning champions of San Marino, Rea and Sirri will be absent, while the Montegiardino club will have to do without Guidi and Semprini. Kick-off is at 20:45 in Acquaviva (free admission), with live streaming on Titani.tv and San Marino RTV.
