San Marino-Bangladesh: FIFA friendly at the Stadium on 5 June

The third of San Marino’s four international friendlies to be scheduled in the FIFA windows of March and June 2026 has also now taken on official status. After the recent meetings with the Faroe Islands (1-2) and Andorra (0-0), in which the Biancazzurri not only performed well but arguably deserved far more than they came away with on both occasions, Cevoli’s side will face the Bangladesh national team at the tail end of spring.

This will be the first official match against a selection from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in the history of San Marino’s international football, which in recent years has opened up to opponents from outside Europe – starting with Cape Verde-San Marino, played in Murcia in 2022. After that experience against a CAF representative side, came three friendlies with CONCACAF national teams (Saint Lucia and Saint Kitts & Nevis), interspersed with a further double-header against African opposition (Seychelles). The Serravalle friendly will also be a first for the Bangladesh national team: the Bengal Tigers have never previously faced European opposition and in June will step onto a pitch on the Old Continent for the very first time.

The Asian first will be played at the San Marino Stadium in Serravalle, on 5 June next. The exact kick-off time is still to be confirmed, though it is likely to be scheduled for late afternoon – as was the case recently against Andorra. Bangladesh are currently 181st in the FIFA Ranking, having dropped one place after their defeats in March against Vietnam and Singapore.
