San Marino national football team celebrated in Poste San Marino’s themed ‘Sport’ series

Poste San Marino, in collaboration with the San Marino Football Federation (FSGC), is celebrating the San Marino national football team with the issue of a commemorative stamp belonging to the “Sport” postal series, a thematic strand that brings together San Marino’s philatelic tradition and the universal values of sport.

The project, born from the synergy between Poste San Marino and the FSGC, celebrates the memorable achievement of 18 November 2024, when the San Marino national team claimed a historic victory in Group D of the UEFA Nations League, securing promotion to Group C and writing an unforgettable chapter in the sporting history of the country. A result that generated excitement and recognition both nationally and internationally.

The stamp depicts the team’s official shirt against a light blue background and is issued in a limited run of 25,000 copies, each with a face value of €4.95. For the first time in San Marino’s philatelic history, flocked self-adhesive paper has been used, an innovative medium that offers collectors a truly unique product.

“With this issue, Poste San Marino wishes to pay tribute to the National Team and, at the same time, reaffirm its desire to combine sporting passion with philatelic tradition, highlighting the universal meaning of sport, which is able to unite generations and communities,” stated Poste San Marino’s General Director, Gian Luca Amici. “This shirt continues to stand for something greater than the scoreline: it is the symbol of those who never stop believing, of those who take to the pitch to honour a dream, of those who play for the love of their homeland”.

Moreover, this unprecedented collaboration could be just the first in a series of philatelic products dedicated to football activities in the country. Finally, I like to think that the unique and unprecedented format of this issue will capture not only the attention of long-standing collectors and enthusiasts, but – partly recalling the stickers through which many of us first got to know and love football – will also bring many more people closer to the San Marino National Team”.

The commemorative stamp will be available from Tuesday 18 November 2025 on the official website www.poste.sm and at the Philatelic Shop in Piazzetta Garibaldi no. 5, San Marino Città.
