Statement from the Federal Council
In light of the misinformed attention of certain individuals who have chosen to express their opposition to a decision taken by the FSGC Federal Council, it is considered appropriate to clarify the following.
The decision-making responsibilities of those who are required to make choices on behalf of a community sometimes conflict with the particular interests of some. Aware of this, and faced with the concrete possibility of being forced to move training sessions and matches for several teams – both from affiliated clubs and from the San Marino Academy (a fundamental pool for our National Representative Teams) – the Federal Council found itself in the position of having to set aside the particular interests of a club not affiliated to the FSGC.
Although fully entitled to a degree of managerial autonomy, deriving also from the significant financial resources invested by the Federation, it must be stressed that this decision is due exclusively to objective circumstances which leave no alternative. For the Federal Council, priority must be given to Sammarinese players, the lifeblood of our National Teams, and to affiliated clubs, as they are the ones who uphold the name of our Country in the national and international football arenas.
